Am I headed in the right directly choosing this exhaust? I'm tired of purple chrome.I'll stick with matte black steel from now on. I would like to put another DG Exhaust back on.to be exact: DG Exhaust "RCM Steel Exhaust - Black" part number: 04-2112. I would like to solve this before 2014 Trikefest. The throttle response and low end was SO AWESOME when I had that DG Pipe on there.now that I have the OEM back on.I'm the guy who went from cable internet back to dial up.this is no way to live. So I stashed that in a box and stored it for scrap or selling to someone for parts and now I am back to the stock OEM exhaust. They also told me that there was a pin size hole in the weld on one of the two header pipes. Makes sense to me and they told me it would take them a long time to experiment and get it correct. They informed me that you can't just buy a jet pack for a '85 Honda atc 350x. I took it to a local Honda dealership who looked it over and informed me I did no further damage except to the pipe chrome because its single walled etc. I parked it in one of my garage bays and then started staring at the exhaust head as it turned from Chrome to purple.aI'm pretty sure the jetting needed changed and other things to. This is where the skid mark began.Rode it around my warehouse back lot for about 5 minutes.THANK GOD! Stopped because whenever I would give it a quick throttle punch it would follow up with a loud backfire. Took the OEM exhaust off and boxed it and purchased two new exhaust gaskets and installed them along with the new DG exhaust. I got the "Krome Power RCM Complete Exhaust - Chrome" part number: 26-2112. ![]() Your’s should be slightly darker than this imo.Hopefully I get some laughs and some good advice from this.Sure did take a nice hit in my wallet for this tragedy!! I decided to buy a new DG Exhaust for my 1985 Honda ATC 350X. Plug 1 in the chart below is ok for a street bike but slightly lean on the main for a dirt bike. ![]() HOW LONG BEFORE PLUG GETS MEANINGFUL READABLE COLORĪs mentioned it can take up to 45 minutes in my experience so doing a reading on a new plug that only has 5 minutes time on it can be misleading but obviously that’s the only option one has. Outer metal plug ring = clean with no build up and lite color, black is rich on pilot. Porcelain = at least 75 % of it lite to medium tan.Įlectrode = will hopefully follow the porcelain color and also have no deposits. My method is the same used by the Kawi factory MX racing team and most other professionals I know which in general is the following: ![]() Get it wide open, hold it there for a few seconds and in one motion pull in the clutch and kill the engine and coast to a stop. PLUG COLOR - In the interest of avoiding possible plug reading bedlum I suggest you simply use the chart in the link at the bottom of my post as a guide. The only way to check the main jet is by testing it at wide open throttle. Check plug and do further jetting according to my plug color. PLUG CHOP In your particular case ONLY, I would jet as I suggested then install a new plug, ride it moderately from all rpm’s for 15 minutes then inspect plug, if it's nearly white jet up 1 more size ride for 15 minutes then run at WOT in 5th gear up a slight grade if possible for 3-4 seconds, then kill eng and quickly pull clutch lever in. It is safer to start rich then jet leaner. Plus if your cylinder is not port dimensions are not the same as yamaho225dr, your jet sizes my need to be different than his anyway. Since your carb is not orig I would start with 3 sizes larger on the main and 1 on the pilot jet. anyone know where to get a 147 main jet for it? or are they universal for 2 stroke carbs? Im probably going to buy a full fmf exhaust system and i was wondering what jet i should upgrade to, the stock one is 142, im probably going to remove the airbox tooits not the stock carb, it says OEM STD on the side. ![]()
